Make an Easy Pampas Grass Candy Cane Garland With Britt Newland
Our wedding bestie, Britt Newland, is back, and with that comes a whole lot of creativity! She's showing us how to create a stunning candy cane mantel using our birch branches for the foundation and pampas grass for the added texture. Topped off with twirly canes and twisted ting for an extra special touch of whimsy, you're sure to have the most stunning mantel in town.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
You will need two birch branches of sparkle white opal. You'll also need three bundles of white pampas grass, one red pampas grass, two opal white sparkle Cane circles, and two opal white sparkle ting twisted. For extra wintery vibes, six sugar pinecones opal tipped. As well as a few zip ties.
Step 2: Assembling the Branches
Now that you have all your materials together, it's time to assemble the branches. Start by fluffing out the branches, ensuring you leave enough room between each branch for the pampas grass bundles to fit snugly between them. Once you're happy with the placement of the branches, use a zip tie to secure and place them onto your mantel surface.
Step 3: Adding the Pampas Grass
Now it's time for the piece de resistance - adding all the ethereal pampas grass!! Snip down in size and add a few bundles of white pampas grass on either side of the birch branches. Arrange these so they are evenly spaced and look full yet aesthetically pleasing simultaneously. Next, grab red pampas grass and create that candy cane look! Keep adding until your mantel is as full as you would like it.
Step 4: Adding the Decorative Elements
Finally, it's time to add all those decorative elements! Britt uses cane circles that remind her of the Grinch and ting branches to create that whimsy. Now add an extra wintery component with opal tipped pinecones– these will help add more texture and sparkle.
